Women In Military Shouldn’t Beg For Recognition, Says Irabor

Former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor (retired), has emphasized that women in the military should not seek recognition through appeals but rather demonstrate their capabilities through their achievements. Speaking at the launch of Major General Preye Fakrogha’s (retired) book “Women in Military Service in Nigeria” in Abuja, Irabor expressed the view that the idea of women empowerment could be derogatory as it implies a need for special consideration, whereas women possess the same energy and qualifications as their male counterparts.

Irabor acknowledged the misunderstood role of women in various aspects of life, particularly in military service. He urged women not to feel the need to beg for recognition but rather focus on proving their importance and relevance through their actions and accomplishments. According to Irabor, the historical figures who made significant impacts did not seek recognition through appeals; instead, they earned it through their merit.
